“Ebb & Flow”
Introduction to Photography Final Project
December 2020
The ebb and flow of one’s mental health is a critically important topic to discuss and is one that should be demystified in the mainstream. I, personally, have been fortunate enough to be given the space by my friends and family to discuss my struggles -- but many are not given this opportunity. Over nine months, I wrote in a journal every night as a way to vent and have found it to be extremely therapeutic. Through this body of work, I candidly recounted the raw emotions I have felt throughout the isolation of quarantine and included real quotes from those moments. Keeping a journal, and now creating a photographic narrative, has allowed me to reflect on some of the darkest moments I’ve ever experienced, proving that they will eventually become the distant past.
